Chandigarh: The State Election Commission announced the schedule for panchayati raj elections, with nominations opening in the second week of September.
Over 61 lakh voters are eligible to cast ballots across 6,700 villages. Voting will use ballot papers with party symbols barred, keeping polls non-partisan as per tradition.
The administration has begun special summary revision of electoral rolls, and model polling booths with accessibility features are planned in every block.
